Dr. Leigh Scarber, DPT, CFSS-3, GTS

Dr. Leigh Scarber has been a physical therapist for over 14 years, with the last 11 in Ventura County, CA.  Growing up in Knoxville, TN, Leigh has always been a runner and enjoys all outdoor activities.  Leigh is an ultra trail runner, proud mom to her son, and wife to Mike who is also her personal physical therapist and business partner. When she's not working or spending time with family, you will find her out on the trails finding wildflowers and native plants. Leigh is also proud to be on the founding Board of Directors for Runners For Public Lands.

Leigh graduated from University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor's degree in exercise science.  She then went to University of St. Augustine in Florida and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2009 with her doctorate in physical therapy.  Her concentration was in manual physical therapy with a case study on trigger points and myofascial restrictions.  In 2014, she became board certified through the APTA as a geriatrics specialist due to her passion for serving the elderly as well as patients with vestibular disorders.  In 2017, Leigh became a Graston provider and is ecstatic about using this treatment modality with athletes or individuals with chronic pain, due to faster results and immediate changes to tissue. In 2018, she went on to become Graston Certified, and then became credentialed as a Graston Specialist (GTS.) Leigh is also a certified level 3 Fascial Stretch Specialist through Stretch to Win, which has revolutionized her approach to treatment.  With a special interest in fascia, Leigh has also been trained in several courses in the John Barnes’ MFR (myofascial release) method and combines this very special technique with her other modalities.

Treating people with gentle touch and a big open heart, Leigh cares deeply about her patients.  As a runner, she can empathize with an athlete's mentality and understands what it means to be injured.
